Elgato 4K60 Pro - first mainstream 4K capture card
Elgato 4K60 Pro - first mainstream 4K capture card

Elgato 4K60 Pro will be the first capture card available for everyone that can record videos from consoles and PC in glorious 4K resolution and 60 FPS. What the device is characterized by and how much it costs?

Elgato announced a new device in the company's portfolio. Elgato 4K60 Pro is to be the first 4K capture card widely available for the consumers. Any PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and PC owner should be able to record the gameplay with it in 4K resolution and in 60 frames per second. The release date is set on November 21st for the sum of $399 (so probably €399).

Elgato 4K60 Pro will be the go-to device when it comes to recording in 4K/60fps, but also 1080p/60. There is a preview option without any delays, even replays (up to 1080p/60). The max bit rate is 120 Mbps, however there is no official information on encoding, apart from the lack of x264, so maybe the card will use x265 on CPU.

The requirements are much higher than with other cards:

  • Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 CPU (i7-6xxx) / AMD Ryzen 7
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10xx / AMD Radeon RX Vega
  • PCIe x4/x8/x16
